Handbuilt Sardine Tin Box & Chopstick Rests | All Levels | Two Part Workshop
Learn to make sets of fish shaped chopstick rests with storage boxes inspired by classic sardine tins in this two part class. Each session is two hours.
This workshop is open to all levels. No experience is necessary. Join solo or with friends for a relaxed, creative experience at the studio. Because this is a two part class with limited seating, early registration is recommended.
Day 1 focuses on construction. You will handbuild fish shaped chopstick rests along with their storage boxes using slab construction and simple sculpting techniques.
Day 2 is dedicated to decorating. You will decorate your work using underglaze.
All materials and tools are provided. We recommend wearing clothes you do not mind getting a little muddy or bringing your own apron. All materials wash out of clothes.
Your finished work will be fired by our team and ready for pickup in approximately 6 to 8 weeks.
A Note About the Process:
Working with clay can be humbling and rewards patience and care. Our instructors will guide you through each step to help your work succeed, but pottery always carries a bit of unpredictability. While well built work usually fires beautifully, the occasional surprise can still happen, and that is simply part of the process. Every potter, no matter their experience, has had work come out differently than planned. If that happens, we hope it encourages you to keep learning, refining your skills, and making more.
