Learn to make a ceramic travel mug in this one-time hand-building workshop. In this single-session class, participants will be guided through building a tall, functional mug using slab construction. This class runs approximately 2–3 hours.
This workshop is open to all levels and no prior experience is required. Whether you’re new to clay or returning with experience, instructors will guide the process step by step. Join on your own or bring friends for a relaxed and focused creative experience. Class size is limited to 10 participants, so early registration is encouraged.
All materials and tools are provided. We recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting a little muddy, or bringing an apron.
Your finished travel mug will be glazed and fired by our team and ready for pickup in approximately 6–8 weeks.
A Note About the Process:
At Makers & Clay, the focus is on the journey rather than chasing a perfect end result. Pottery is learned through repetition, patience, and practice, and even experienced potters make the same forms many times before they get them right. Because pottery involves many variables, pieces can sometimes come out differently than planned. While specific results can’t be guaranteed, classes are meant to introduce people to working with clay or offer experienced makers a chance to reconnect with their practice or learn new techniques. The hope is that the experience sparks joy, curiosity, and continued making.
