Wheel 3 | All Levels | Vases and Bottles (4-Week Course)
This class explores the endless possibilities of bottle and vase forms, offering a space for skill-building and creative experimentation.
Open to all students with prior wheel experience, the course covers core shaping techniques while leaving plenty of room for individual direction. The prerequisite is a firm grasp of centering and the ability to throw a vertical cylinder. Students are welcome to work with the amounts of clay they’re most comfortable throwing.
Students are encouraged to approach the course in a way that meets them where they are—whether following the instructor’s demonstrations or building on past experience with more personalized challenges. Returning and advanced students may opt to work more independently while receiving guidance as needed.
Spots are limited to 10 per class.
This one-month course consists of 4 two-hour weekly sessions.
Students are encouraged to continue practicing between classes—wheel access is available during open studio hours, seven days a week.
•Class fees cover approximately 12.5 pounds of clay, along with glazes and firing services*. Additional clay can be purchased through your teacher during class hours only.
*Additional glaze firing fees apply to pieces over 6” in length, width, or height.
**Members must pay their standard firing rates for all work made during class.
**Tool Policy Update:
Due to recent changes in import taxes, we are no longer able to offer a free set of tools with class registration. Tools will still be available for use during class sessions, but not during open studio hours. We offer quality tool kits for sale at the studio, or students may bring their own tools purchased from an art supply store or online.
• Open studio operates seven days a week, from Monday to Sunday, between the hours of 9am to 9pm, except during scheduled classes. Additionally, there will be a one-hour closure prior to and after each class.
• We recommend wearing comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting dirty and closed-toe shoes for safety.
• It's essential to tie back or secure long hair and we recommend having short nails for wheel throwing.
• Students are encouraged to bring their own aprons and hand towels to class.
• Students are encouraged to make the most of open studio time between classes for practice.
This class is designed for adults. Minors ages 14–17 are welcome to participate with parent or guardian permission. A waiver must be signed in person by a parent or legal guardian on the first day of class during check-in. Please email us at hello@makersandclay.com with any questions.
