Pop Art Vases | All Levels | Hand-Building (4-Week Session)
Students will learn to build sculptural vase forms inspired by the bold colors and playful graphics of everyday packaging such as chip bags, soda cans, and cereal boxes. The class will cover all foundational hand-building techniques, including the use of coil, pinch, and slab methods, with guidance and individual support throughout. Students will also learn how to apply underglaze to create designs on their finished pieces.
This class is open to all levels. Beginners will follow the full project, while returning students can continue building on previous work or evolve their ideas further with the help of their instructor. Please let your instructor know at the beginning of class if you intend to work more independently.
Course format:
4 weekly sessions (2 hours each)
Included with your registration:
• Approximately 12 lbs of clay
• Glazes and firing services (additional fees apply for pieces larger than 6” in any direction)
• Studio tools provided during class sessions
• Access to open studio time for practice between classes
Underglaze Information:
Underglazes used to create designs and color in this class are not included with registration. A variety of underglaze colors are available for purchase at the studio.
Tool Policy Update:
Due to recent changes in import taxes, we are no longer able to offer a free set of tools with class registration. Tools will still be available for use during class sessions, but not during open studio hours. We offer quality tool kits for sale at the studio, or students may bring their own tools purchased from an art supply store or online.
Open Studio Hours:
Monday–Sunday, 9am–9pm (excluding class times and a 1-hour closure before and after each class)
What to bring:
Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and closed-toe shoes.
Students are encouraged to bring their own apron and hand towel.
Age requirement:
This class is designed for adults. Minors ages 14–17 are welcome to participate with parent or guardian permission. A waiver must be signed in person by a parent or legal guardian on the first day of class during check-in. Please email us at hello@makersandclay.com with any questions.
